I noticed this is the only place I have been to where you need to hand them your ID, they scan it into a computer and hand it back. What is the purpose of this exactly? I don't understand why they would need to scan and save this information. Seems a bit of a breach of privacy if you ask me.
This is just to make sure people are of the legal age but if I had to guess, they keep the information for marketing purposes. They will have the person's home address and likely will send them things to entice them to come back.
I think Juliant is right. They want your private details to market to you. I think this shouldn't be acceptable though. I bet if enough people complained about it, they would be forced to change it. People just don't care.
I am fairly certain other places scan IDs as well but this one seems to be the place most people complain about. I am not sure why. I mean if you don't want your ID to be scanned, it is worth inquiring about this issue with the Circa about your concerns.
Yup, it's to make sure you are who you say you are and you're of age to stay there. Vegas is a place where a lot of people try to cheat the system, so they often check IDs to make sure they are legit. When you work with casinos, it's kinda part of the process I guess.
