I thought I would update anyone with this who was wondering. They have decided to not force any kind of mask mandate. They don't want it to hurt tourism I guess in the area and cause confusion so are only requiring it for their staff members.
Las Vegas officials on Tuesday decided against imposing a mask mandate for tourists on the Strip, citing tourism concerns.
Instead, the Clark County Commission voted to require employees wear masks indoors at places such as malls and clubs.
The decision comes after the Southern Nevada Health District announced last week that it recommends masks indoors regardless of vaccination status.
The mandate will become effective on Thursday at 12.01 a.m. and will be reviewed later on Aug. 17, according to USA Today.
“We have already been through a shutdown and a start-up,” Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson said. “We cannot afford to have major conventions choose to go elsewhere.”
Excuse me but what is the point of having people who work for these places wear masks if no one else is expected to?
A mask is meant to protect other people from your germs, not protect you. So what are they saying, their employees are dirty? I get using them around food. I think that should be a standard. I have been to plenty of countries that almost always have cooks and chefs wearing them when preparing meals.
I am just glad they have seen sense. You can't possibly control that many people, not in Vegas. Sucks for the workers but it is probably a good idea to wear a mask anyways with how many different people go into that spot.
I'm fully vaccinated so I'm not too worried about it. I think people are just too tired of dealing with the fuss of it all. People are going to throw a fit if they have to wear masks still.
Yay, no masks, perfect! I am so tired of wearing masks, and I know for sure when I travel to Vegas next, that I really don't want to be wearing a mask all the time.
This might change actually, since the US is starting to see a new version of covid, and even those vaccinated are being told to wear masks. I wonder if that will happen to Vegas.
